Squash: learning lets and strokes + group coaching

Dear [[firstname]],

We're just getting in touch to highlight two new programmes which our head squash coach, Trevor Grinsted, is now running.

Many of you have told us recently that you'd like to learn more about when to call lets and strokes on court.

In squash, both players share the same space and there are times when your opponent blocks your ability to safely play the ball or blocks the front wall where you want to play the shot to.

In these situations a referee will make a judgment of ‘stroke’, ‘let’ or ‘no let’ and the players acknowledge how the decision affects the score and both players focus on the next point.

In a club setting this judgement is made by you and, if you aren’t sure what to look for, it could mean you lose points the opponent claims wrongly or could mean you play a shot that’s considered dangerous to your opponent.

If you'd like to learn more about lets and strokes, come along to one of the below sessions on court with Trevor.

We'll be running sessions on this on the following dates:

Sunday 15 May 1-2pm
Saturday 21 May 4-5pm
Tuesday 24 May 7.30-8.30pm

Each session will cost just £4. To find out more or book a place, reply to this email or call Trevor on 07872 468956.

We plan to run this session every so often in the future so, if you can't make one of the dates above, just let us know.

We have also started 4 new adult group coaching sessions each week for players looking to develop their squash. These are on:

Saturday 8.30am - 10am
Saturday 2pm - 3.30pm
Sunday 10.30am - 12pm
Monday 7.30am - 9am

Each session contains a maximum of 6 players spread over 2 courts and features 1 hour of coaching practices and 30 minutes of games amongst the group.

These sessions are priced at £8 a session. For May, sessions can be booked and paid for individually with little commitment while you get a feel for them.

From June, the sessions will be booked and payable in blocks in advance of the month. For example, £32 would be paid for 4 Saturdays in June. This will roll on month by month if you’re happy to continue each month. If you decide to vacate a space in a session, it can be offered to another player.

Unfortunately we can't offer refunds if you cannot make a session once booked; this ensures that the court and coach costs are covered if players can't attend.

If you're interested in group coaching at the Club, just transfer £8 to the below account and reply with the session you will attend please.
