Tennis Court Maintenance and Security

Court Security

There is valuable equipment on the tennis courts now, so please make sure the courts are locked if you are the last person to leave. The padlock code is 3108 (aligned against the marks at the top, NOT across the middle!)

Tennis Court Maintenance

Courts should be swept after the end of each social session match; at the end of each match when playing league matches; and when playing fellow members before leaving the courts for the next players. Ensure you leave 5 minutes before your time ends to sweep the courts. Those coming on to play should expect courts to be swept and in good condition before playing.

Use the 4 drag nets provided (the green drag net hanging at the side of court 3 is for collecting leaves / debris and not for general sweeping). Also, please clean the lines if necessary using the 2 line brushes provided.

Sweeping should be done in a spiral for each half court, starting around the outside and working inwards towards the centre. This is because clay tends to migrate to the outside edges of the court.

New information will be pinned to the court nets / entrance door soon, confirming the above. We ask all members to help out by reminding other members who forget to adhere to the above to brush, in the interest of maintaining court quality, protecting section budget from extra use of clay, and social etiquette.

The committee will arrange more in depth weekly maintenance to clear debris and to shift clay from the edges of the courts or to top up the clay if necessary.

After a few months the courts will 'bed in' and less sweeping will be needed.

Please make sure you brush your feet and the bottoms of bags when leaving the courts, especially if going into the clubhouse.

Kind Regards

The Tennis Committee
