A MESSAGE FROM WALTHAMSTOW SQUASH COMMITTEE ABOUT THE EGM

Dear Squash Member,
You should have received an email about a Special EGM to be held on Monday 5th February at 7.30pm. This is a (hopefully) short meeting to vote on a single issue. It would be hugely appreciated if you were able to come down and vote.
The Squash Committee are advising squash members to support the resolution to NOT have the clubs accounts fully audited, but instead to continue the practice of recent years and have club accounts subject to an Independent Accounts Reports and publication.
We believe spending an estimated £8,000-10,000 (or more) on a full audit is an unnecessary waste of limited club funds. For context, this equates to more than a quarter of the income squash makes in membership fees. This is money we think would be far better spent on sporting facilities, including the courts.
Just as importantly, we believe the existing arrangements are more than sufficient for an organisation of our size to ensure transparency and probity.
To get this resolution passed requires a two-thirds majority, so it would be great if you are able to attend the EGM and ensure that your hard-earned membership and court fees are spent on squash not auditors.
If anyone has any further questions please feel to contact any of us on the committee.

Robert McKill, Diane Weaver, Trevor Grinsted, Luke McLaughlin, Mark Gallagher, Josh Cole & Kyle Anderson
